20 Years in the Army. Decades on the Water.

Battle Tied Flies is a Veteran-owned fly-fishing company built by people who love the water, love tying flies, and apparently never learned when to stop buying fishing gear.

After 20 years of service in the United States Army, I learned a few things: preparation matters, attention to detail matters, and somebody will always ask, “Who forgot the damn thing?”

Those lessons translate surprisingly well to fly fishing.

Our team brings decades of combined experience on the water, chasing fish, learning their habits, studying their environments, and occasionally telling stories about the ones that got away. We take our fishing seriously. Ourselves? Not always.

We are committed to responsible angling and protecting the waters we love. That means respecting fisheries, practicing ethical catch-and-release when appropriate, following regulations, taking care of the places we fish, and doing our part to make sure future generations have the opportunity to experience the same wild water we do today.

And then there’s the fly tying.

We genuinely love it. We spend hours at the vise experimenting with materials, patterns, colors, and techniques. Some flies work exactly as planned. Others become what we affectionately call “field-expedient modifications.” That’s Army terminology for, “Well, it looked better in my head.”

At the end of the day, Battle Tied Flies is about good flies, wild water, great people, and having a hell of a good time doing what we love.

We’re veteran-owned. We’re anglers. We’re fly tiers. We’re obsessed with the outdoors.

And after 20 years in the Army, we’re pretty sure we’ve finally found a mission where nobody is yelling because we’re five minutes late to formation.

Tie a fly. Find some water. Make some memories.

Battle Tied Flies.
